BYETC has had the pleasure of working with visiting artist Jane duRand who has been sharing her love of mosaic art with our students.
Jane is an Ipswich artist with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Internationally recognised, her work has taken her all over the globe, where her large-scale ceramic mosaics have been commissioned for public and private buildings.
Jane, art teacher Sophie and students have been busy in the ceramic studio creating nature and animal inspired mosaic art planters (pictured). Each pot is embedded with personalised glazed ceramic features which showcase the detailed, and creative skills of each student. The pots include individually cut mosaic tiles, making each planter a 'one of a kind'.
The finished planters have been used by the school's horticulture students to build colourful displays around BYETC's courtyard where both staff and students are able to admire the amazing work.
